In his last competition before moving up a weight from Under 60 kilos to Under 66 kilos Isaac Hill came home from the Northern Ireland Open Judo Championships in Belfast with another two medals to add to his collection. In the Junior (Under 21 years) Category Isaac lost no time in showing he was in good form with a 21 second win using O Soto Gari for Ippon against Northern Ireland’s Tiarman McGilloway. His second contest against Aaron Hales from Huddersfield took twice as long (44 seconds) before a Juji Gatame by the Kendal Judo Club player put him into the final.
The Final went the full four minutes against Judo Scotland’s David Ferguson but a small score from a O Goshi halfway through the fight gave the Gold to Isaac.
In the Senior Category Isaac started well this time taking less than a minute to throw Alan Hamilton from West Calder with his favourite hip throw (O Goshi). It was another hip throw against Reece Howard from Camberley which put him into his second final of the day against his opponent of the Junior Final, David Ferguson. This contest became the longest of the day in the whole Championships. Taking well over seven minutes it only ended with a slightly unfair penalty against Isaac to give the Scottish player the Gold and silver to Isaac.
