Michael Horley Selected for Swedish Open
Wednesday, 07 October 2009
Michael Horley has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Swedish Open a competition which is also being used as part of the selection process as to who goes to the European Under 23 Championships in a few weeks time.
Between now and then Michael, along with Danny Carr, David Groom and Danny Harper are off across the Atlantic to take part in the Canadian and Quebec Open Championships.
In the past few weeks we have also had the company of on of Belgium's young up and coming players, Benjamin Harmegnies. He was sent by his coach, Belgium's most famous sportsman Robert Van de Walle as toughening up training in the Lakeland Fells and also on the mat alongside the other international players training at Kendal.
They all took part recently in a successful fund raising "Fight Night" which raised nearly £1000 into the players fund. The money is not just for the elite competitors but also helps pay for the mini-bus fuel when going to the smaller competitions and gradings etc.
