English Open & 50th Anniversary Dinner
Saturday, 28 March 2009
March 21st & 22nd was a very busy weekend at Kendal Judo Club. Not only were we the hosts to the 2009 English Open Championships but we were also hosts to around 150 guests as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a big dinner at the Castle Green Hotel.
Among the guests at the dinner were the Mayor of Kendal Claire Feeney-Johnson, Jane Bridge, Britain's first World Champion, Funder members of the club Dereck Towers, Arthur Mayo and our President Alan Campbell. Also there were Tony Macconnell & Pam of course as well as Alan Petherbridge, BJA Director, Dave Clarke, and Karen Roberts, Margaret Hicks and Patrick Roux from BJA Squads Management. Everyone had a good time except those who had to get up at 6.00am the following morning for the weigh-in of Day Two of the English Open.
The full results for the English Open can be found on the BJA WEB Site -- www.Britishjudo.org.uk and there are some photos from the dinner in the 'Galleries' Section of our WEB Site.
