Services to Sport Honour for Michael
Sunday, 06 December 2009
Kendal Judo Club's Senior Coach, Mike Liptrot, was deservedly presented with an Award for his Services to Sport at the Cumbria 09 Sports Award Dinner held at the Low Wood Hotel, Windermere.
Michael has been involved with the sport for forty years since he was six years old. Competing for ten of those years at International level he then turned to coaching. He is also the mainstay of the club bringing 'The Dojo' up to the standard we now almost take for granted including being incorporated in the London 2012 official pre Games training sites.
Michael said that it was nice to get the recognition from those outside judo and to give acknowledgement to the status of the club in the world of sport.
He added ' The award is for the youth of the club who are its future and the hard work being done there by everyone.'
Judo was well recognised at the dinner with Dave Hughes from Carlisle's Kobayashikwai being presented with Cumbria's Sports Personality of the Year Award.
