BEST IN SHOW

Westmorland County Show - which, this year had over 26,000 visitors during the day -is the premier Cumbrian Agriculture Show of the year and at its very first apperance Kendal Judo Club took the prize for the "Best Non-Agricultural Show Stand"
As well as promoting judo the stand was a popular draw with children wanting to find out more about the club's 2012 Olympic Training Camp status and the training camp for school children to be held during next October's Half-Term school holiday *.
It was all down to coach Mike Lptrot who set up a judo mat in the tent and let children have a go on the bench press machine, grip tester and a measuring device to see how high they could jump.
A few of the club's members also gave demonstrations and visitors were allowed to try out judo for themselves.
Mike told the Westmorland Gazette that the club's presence was not just about judo but telling the local community what we do. He wanted to have an informative and interactive stand for the kids to have something to do while the parents found out a bit more about judo.
It obviously paid off.
