Over 200 players took part in this year's Lakeland Open Championships held during the August Bank Holiday weekend. They came from as far apart as Dartford in the South and Aberdeen in the North.

Nathan Hogg,a member of the National Junior Squad is one of the first recipients of a new grant fund set up by the supermarket chain ASDA.
Known as 'ASDA Sporting Chance'the grant is given to sporting stars of the future named by ASDA and Nathan will receive a grant of £500.

It was ten out of ten for Kendal Judo Club when they took on the might of Lancashire at their Judo Championships held at St. Helens.

For some of the members it was their first major competition but they came back home with five Gold, four silver and one bronze medal. read more
