SportsMatch Grant Awarded
Monday, 02 July 2007
Kendal Judo Club has recently secured £1250 from Sports Match Grant where money from business sponsorship (in this case Holmes of Natland Nurseries)is matched by money from the government Department for Culture Media and Sport. Certain criteria have to be met, most importantly that the sponsorship is to develop the sport or project at grass roots level. Money is not given for elite performance etc.
Kendal Judo Club applied to help fund a programme of secondary school judo sessions in order to encourage young players to join the club, increase membership and identify new talent.
Due to delays in getting the money the project has not properly got off the ground but now we have been successful in our application and know the systtem it is hoped we can secure further business sponsorship in the near future and quickly apply for funds to continue the project.
Leaflets and information are available from the club for any businesses interested in Sportsmatch Sponsorship
Kendal Judo Club are very grateful to Holmes of Natland for their contribution both in money and the work put into the obtaining of the grant.
