Help for Danny Harper

Danny Harper has been awarded a sport scholarship of £1000 a year by the University of Cumbria to help fund his degree course.
He is one of 20 plus students to be awarded such a scholarship due to their excellence in sport, creative studies or community work. Club member Danny started studies to become a secondary school PE teacher this September and is based on the Lacaster campus. read more

Dojo Needs Volunteers

It has been just short of fifty years since an advert in the Westmorland Gazette led twenty volunteers to form Kendal Judo Club and now the Dojo wants more youngsters to join a new Cumbria Sport Initiative and ensure its future. read more

Rising Star Award for Nathan

Cumbria Sports Awards 2007 ceremony was held at the Low Wood Hotel on the shore of Windermere and Nathan Hogg was presented with the "Rising Star" Award by the Mayor of Kendal.

Nathan's sister Laura won the same award in 2004.

World Class Start, TASS and Veteran Squad Players

From a town which has a population of just over 26,000 Kendal Judo Club now has an amazing seven players at National level.
Aaron Asplin and Nathan Hogg have each retained their place on the World Class Start Program. They are joined by Jack Lashley (a recent convert from Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling where he was a Champion)and Danny Finney. read more

World Champion and Olympic Silver Medallist - Vitaly Makarov Pays a Visit to The Club

The Russian World Champion and Olympic Silver Medallist, Vitaly Makarov, known for his technical expertise and speed of attacks on the judo mat visited Kendal on November 9th and 10th.

In his short stay in this country he only had time to visit three clubs - Edinburgh, Kendal and Dartford. read more

Kendal Senior Open - Results

Decimated in numbers by the postal strike being in full swing just as the entries started to come in the Kendal Senior Open, although lacking in quantity, certainly did not lack in quality. read more

Two Medals for Kendal at Lakeland Open

Over 200 judo competitors from the length and breadth of the British Isles descended on Kendal Judo Club for the Annual Lakeland Open Championships for the Under 20 year players. The entry was of a high quality with four of the selected British team using the event as a warm up for the Junior European Championships. read more

SportsMatch Grant Awarded

Kendal Judo Club has recently secured £1250 from Sports Match Grant where money from business sponsorship (in this case Holmes of Natland Nurseries)is matched by money from the government Department for Culture Media and Sport. Certain criteria have to be met, most importantly that the sponsorship is to develop the sport or project at grass roots level. read more
