Nick Hill

Nick is the oldest of the club's members who are still competing. Aged 57 in 2008 he started learning the sport as a seventeen year old.
His first sensei was Richard Barraclough at Stretford, Manchester and he went from yellow belt to Dan Grade in 3 years. He gained his 2nd Dan in 1984
He won the National College Championships as a blue belt during his second year in Judo.
Later he took over Stretford from Richard and ran the club for 15 years training, among others, Fitzlloyd Walker who won the National Championships for 14 years.
Having joined Kendal Club in 2005 Nick's first competition in 20 years was the North West Veterans Open where he won a silver medal. His latest success was at the National Veterans Championships at Thetford in October 2007 where he won Gold in his weight group and a silver in the next weight up. He has since been invited to join the National Veterans Squad.
Nick, a Mortgage Advisor in real life, is also a Brown Belt at Chojinkai Karate and has competed internationallly at Sambo Wrestling the Russian form of wrestling.
